Arizona Wingshooting Adventures

The Arizona quail hunting season starts (for us) in late November running through to the second Sunday in February.

Elk River, BC

Located in south-east BC, the Elk River and its tributaries are home to a wild and native population of westslope cutthroat and bull trout.

Saint Mary River, BC

British Columbia’s Saint Mary River flows out of the Purcell Mountains – this beautiful river delights the fly fisher for its entire length.

The Bull River is located north of Fernie, BC. It’s a small wilderness river that features dry fly fishing in crystal clear water for native Westslope Cutthroat and Bull Trout.

Bow River, AB

Southern Alberta’s Bow River is world-renowned for its hard-fighting brown and rainbow trout. The Bow is truly a trophy fishery with both browns and rainbows averaging 19 inches.

Oldman River, AB

The Oldman River is the major drainage in S.W. Alberta. Our clients that spend a day or two fly-fishing the Oldman River are amazed at with this scenic river that starts in the mountains, spills out of the foothills then flows over the prairies before eventually joining the Bow River.

Crowsnest River, AB

The Crowsnest River is primarily a rainbow trout fishery, located in southern Alberta 2 hours from Calgary and 45 minutes from Fernie, B.C. The best time to fly fish the ‘Crow’ is from late June thru to October.

Located in extreme south western Alberta, the Waterton River is a Brown Trout stream that is best suited to floating.

Our story began in 1988 when Dave Brown started his career as a fly-fishing guide on Alberta’s Bow River.

Since then D.B.O. has grown and become one of the most versatile outfitting companies in North America offering guided fly-fishing trips throughout the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, British Columbia and Montana. We also provide guided upland bird and waterfowl hunts in Saskatchewan and guided quail hunts in Arizona.

I was part of a group of anglers who booked to fish southeast British Columbia with Dave Brown Outfitters. Because of wildfires in the area, almost all of the fishable water was closed. Even with this, Dave was able to get us on the rivers that were open and we all had a great time. Everyone caught great fish every day and learned a lot from the guides! We are hoping to return next year! Bravo, Dave! Thanks for making our trip such a success, despite numerous surprises from mother nature.

This was my third trip on the Elk with Dave Brown Outfitters, and as in previous visits, Dave and his guides did not disappoint. Although the conditions were tougher this year due to very hot weather and smoke from fires in the mountains, our guides worked hard and got us into fish. Andres Gonzalez and Greg Leech both really know the river, and are very professional, patient and enjoyable to fish with. Nothing beats taking a Westslope cuttie on a dry fly, and the river is just gorgeous! The various float sections provide a good variety of water types, so you are not floating the same water day after day. I highly recommend Dave Brown’s operation. I’ll be back again soon for another go at those beautiful cutthroats.
