Top Picks for July Fly-Fishing

With our Alberta and British Columbia Fly-Fishing Season shaping up nicely,July is looking stellar.Low flows have meant great conditions out of the gate, adding to the excitement are hatches of Golden Stones,Caddis,P.M.D’s and Green Drakes.Like all parts of the West,we have been experiencing above average temperatures, however given the fact that we are “up north” temperatures are generally 5-10 degrees cooler than Montana. That effects our fishing as our water is generally cooler.

The Bow River -Has been fishing well. The Golden Stone Fly hatch is getting going and the fish are looking up.This river will continue to fish well right thru July.

The Elk River – Is also fishing well and will continue to do so for the month of July.

The Slocan River – Although it closes on July 15th this little river is fishing great and will continue to do so until it closes.

The Oldman River -Once again this river always fishes good throughout July. The freestone upper river has been good, the same holds true for the Tailwater stretch.
