The Bull River is located north of Fernie British Columbia.It’s a small wilderness river that features dry fly fishing in crystal clear water for native Westslope Cutthroat and Bull Trout.The Bull River is floatable via rafts and is an excellent sidebar to our Elk River Floats.Fly-Fishers enjoy non-stop dry fly fishing for Cutthroat trout from 10 -18 inches.The fishing is a sidebar to the wilderness feel and spectacular Rocky Mountain Scenery this river has.

Fly-fishing The Bull River consists of mainly casting Dry Flies from a raft then getting out to work a variety of holding water including deep pools and swift runs.Streamer fishing can also be productive for Bull Trout.

Due to the Bull River’s Alpine nature the Bull River usually starts the last week of July into September.For Fly-fishers want to float,The Bull River the time frame runs into the the 3rd week of August then the River becomes to low.

The Bow River in and below Calgary Alberta continues to fish great.Hopper- Dropper rigs are getting it done and so are streamers.Of course nymphing is also working but why? when other techniques delver above average sized fish?.Current hatches are Caddis and B.W.O’s.

Meanwhile down in S.E. British Columbia The Elk River is also fishing great.Hatches consist of Olives,Mahogony Duns,Nocturnal Stones and October Caddis.Terrestrial fishing can also be good on warm days.When in doubt try fishing streamers for larger than average cutties and bull trout.

The Elk River near Fernie BC continues to fish well.Recent cooling trends have kept the water temps. low and the fish are happy.Hatches of October Caddis and Flavs have had the cutties looking up.During non-hatch periods Streamers and Terrestrial Patterns have been working well.Please checkout Back Country Closures -Due to forest fires if you are planning to Walk and Wade area streams.
