With warmer temperatures comes more active bass and an excuse to purchase a new fly-rod ,in this case the Orvis  Helios2-9ft 7 wt tip flex. Despite the very windy conditions Whitey  and I launch the boat and started fishing , we worked Clouser’s and The Kreexix off drop off’s and bars .The conditions where tough as the wind was relentless ,however it had to be done . This was my first time casting a Helios 2 , despite the conditions the 7 wt handled the large flies and wind perfectly .I was able to make  accurate 50 -60 ft casts with little effort  ,rowing the boat was another story .The fishing was not “hot ” and certainly the wind did not help but we persevered  and where able to find a few fish to co-operate.

The new rod handled the fish well, I was able to put the boots to them quickly. In the next few weeks the water temperature is just going to get warmer so resulting in more hungry bass and some topwater action.Stay tuned Amigos .
