Last week I headed west to L.A. and Fishermen’s Spot which for all intensive purposes is the only Fly-Shop in L.A. and I was there to be part of The Fishermen’s Spot Fly-FIshing Expo  which was open to the public on  Saturday and Sunday. The event experienced an awesome turnout,It was great to rub shoulders with Guides from all over California ,connect with old friends and meet new ones.Owned by Steve Ellis and Ken Lindsay Fishermen’s Spot  has been in business  for forty years and has weathered many storms,A Writer’s Strike ,The Great Recession and the consolidation of the Fly-Fishing Industry since the jump on The Bandwagon days ,they are without a doubt the last man standing in the LA area, because they do it right.I was impressed with the current inventory they carried.Products from Simms,Sage,Orvis and others, the shop supports an awesome fly-tying wall along with a trade up program and an in-house  Travel Department.Fishermen’s Spot is well worth a visit, they are great at recruiting and teaching new peeps to the sport, for the acomplished Angler they have you covered.

Along with promoting my Outfitting Business I also presented  my World famous slide show” Fly-Fishing The Canadian Rockies ” which went over very well.Geared towards beginners and experts alike the  shows and clinics went off like clockwork and they had the food covered via two different vendors one of which really impressed me.Captain BBQ was there with a mobile smoker offering killer smoked ribs ,tri tip, and a mix of wild game, the mac and cheese that they prepared was also outstanding.Needless to say I skipped dinner that night.

Sunday night found me driving east on a mission which was to fish the Colorado River below the Parker Strip, this is great Smallmouth Bass water and I needed a piece of it.Monday morning I was casting  streamers ,the Smallies co-operated as they usually do.I would like to fish this stretch from a boat as there is some awesome bank stucture that seems to hold a lot of fish ..perhaps a jet boat is on the horizon ? you never know.
