The heat is on on our Southern Arizona Bass Lakes, the LMB’s for the most part are out of the spawning mode and are now busy feeding on baitfish,Damsel and Dragoon flies ..frogs to.

This is a prefect time to fish for Bass with fly rod as the Bass are cruising and chowing food sources near shoreline reeds and weed beds.Using flies that are presented just below the surface seems to be the ticket.Poppers cast into liking looking ambush spots are also getting eaten.

This is provides a lot of opportunities for Fly-Rodders.All you need is a 6-8 weight rod, floating lines for all.Throw in some Streamers & Poppers and you are set.

Mornings and evenings are best as the Bass are out on the prowl and working the shallows. The big holy shit fish are there and can catch you off guard and hand you your ass.

The Drill on the lakes is to work along the shoreline casting into the structure then strip in.You also need to be scanning the surface looking for the tell tale sign of Bass chasing baitfish schools, creating nervous water then cast in.

Crappie are also out there and more than willing to eat a fly.Although they don’t fight as hard as MR. Bass they are a lot of fun to catch and can be very aggressive.Get out there and enjoy the fishing you won’t be disappointed!
