I love to tie flies. It is fun and a great way to get pumped up about the season. You can be creative and design your own patterns, stick to the tried and true,or mess with and modify patterns.Fly Tying sucks you in to the sport of fly-fishing  more deeply ..so it seems.I am not a great tier so I stick with flies I can crank out,I save the #18 parachutes to the experts with small hands and stick to what I find easy to tie.

Purple Chubby's fresh off the press!

Purple Chubby’s fresh off the press that can be tied fast.

Those are flies that have a minimal amount of materials and just a few tying steps.I can tie them quickly @10 pm after a day’s guiding.Thats what I like.Every season I make sure I my standard patterns on hand and add a  new ones, for most tiers  the fun is working with new patterns and materials. The Sky is the limit, have fun.
