Looking Ahead
It looks like runoff has peaked in parts of Montana,Alberta and British Columbia.Good reports from Alberta’s Crownest River,The Bow River although high and dirty is fishing.British Columbia’s Elk River is pooched but is also on the way down. Here is Montana folks are whispering “Bighole and Salmon flies.Fishy things are starting to happen.

Notes From The Missouri River -Montana
Everything is good on The “Mo”.The Baetis are disappearing and Caddis and P.M.D’s are starting .Flows have been dropped from 11,000 C.F.S to 4800 C.F.S. so it is all good, especially the fishing.Like the insects the trout are also starting to transistion into classic holding and feeding water, leaving the depths for more suitable feeding zones. It’s about to go -off , many of the guides that work the river agree. Some days are tougher than others but overall the fishing has been good with excellent on the horizon.
In the meantime its a matter of mixing things up.Challenging and fun especially when it comes together.
