It’s been years since I have fished Baxter Creek,a small Brook and Brown Trout Stream located in the rolling farmland of Southern Ontario. The first and last time I fished it I was 13 and just started or attempted to Fly-Fish.That trip was a train wreck as I spent more time hooked up in the bushes than I did actually fishing. It was frustrating.

Over the years I vowed to get back and seek my revenge. On Thursday my Father and I set out for the drive down Memory Lane. For him it was all about seeing the Town of Millbrook where he landed his first High School Principal’s job.We cruised the town, driving  past the old High School then the house that we lived in,then wandered around town. After lunch we headed south of Millbrook to Baxter Creek. My Father is in his early 80’s and was getting tired,I did not have much time. I quickly rigged my 4wt with a small yarn indicator and a Copper John underneath it,then went fishing.I made a few casts and drifts thu the tail of a small pool, then cast up into the head, the indicator paused and I set the hook. After all these years Baxter Creek success was finally granted to me.I admired the small, symbolic wild and native Brook Trout.

My Father commented that it’s “a small one” I fired back that “yes it is however it has taken me a lot of years to seek revenge on this creek”.I was smitten as I de-rigged and drove off.
