Dixie Points a Covey of Huns in Saskatchewan

We lost our little “Dixie Chick” on Sunday.Lisa found here in a dog run where she went into, hopped into a dog house and died. She was a great, feisty little Bird Dog,Pet and Companion.Dixie was whelped in Oklahoma and came to us via Mike Logan’s Bo-Darc Kennel in Ponca City.Mike hand delivered out to The Selman Ranch near Woodward Ok. where I was  guiding Bobwhite Quail Hunts. From Her early start in Oklahoma then home to Arizona she showed  great promise, pointing a covey of Gambels Quail at 10 weeks old.Her first hunting season was in Saskatchewan where she learned the ways of the wily Hungarian Partridge and “spooky” Sharptail Grouse. She did a great job and was on the A-Team before she turned 1 years old.Over the course of her life she pointed Bobwhite,Gambels,Scaled and Mearns Quail.Hungarian Partridge, Sharptail Grouse and Pheasants.Hunting from the Northern Plains of Saskatchewan,The Southern Plains of Oklahoma and The Deserts of Arizona.Dixie  briefly spent some time in Mexico pointing Mearns Quail while we where hunting along the Border.

Dixie was Lisa’s favorite of the Bird Dogs, always happy, and always trying to work her way into the house, always by Lisa’s side when they where together.Last Saturday I took her out on a guide trip where I got to watched her hunt then point one last time.I noticed she was breathing hard and decided to keep her home and get her in for a check up.The tests came back ok,Our Vet. figured she Died from a heart attack.Despite the loss we know she is in good hands.Dixie now joins ,Tank,Ted ,Lucy,Reba,Okie,Jamie,Crash,Jasper,Hilda,Clint,Roxy,Zane,Covey,Quincy,Cochise and Sunny in the land of 1000 bird Coveys. She will “rule the roost”Her new Owner will be standing back admiring her while she is on point.
“Rest in Peace” Dixie Chick.
