The dogs and I have been back home in the Desert for a little over a week. Thanks to some cool temperatures we have been getting out and chasing Desert Quail (Gambels and Scaled ) It’s been fun.Clients are enjoying it.Human miles are walked,Dog miles are ran.Everyday is different as scenting conditions vary depending on the humidity in the air.

Despite the sometimes tough conditions the Quail are there,it’s not lights out but better than the last few years.

The Young Guns are ran with older dogs who given their experience no the ways of the Devil Birds, the Young Dogs catch on fast, pointing then if contact with the birds lost working the area until contact is made again. It’s fun to watch the lights go on in young Canine minds.

Birds are hard earned.Even on a good day it’s not easy,as our quarry is out to hose us ..and they do a good job at it.

The Labs get in on the action to,using them to flush running birds then picking up downed Quail. They to enjoy the action.

As the air temperature continues to drop and more rain hits the Desert floor things will only get better.
