Last Year the dogs and I made a stop along Montana’s Missouri River Breaks.Considering we had been traveling for two days had a great time stretching our legs and pointing birds. This Year was know different.

It’s our first major stop to get out and work dogs on live birds.Considering all have been sitting around in Arizona for the last four months it’s great to see the dogs “turn on”.

I work the dogs in ‘threes” a younger dog being ran with two older dogs, and this area does not let us down for contacts namely with Pheasants.

Its a good feeling to be out walking on the Northern Plains with Bird Dogs out front ..we all get our head back in the game.

The dogs pick up where we left off months ago.I work them on being steady on point and with running Pheasants stop to flush, its awesome to watch the dogs get into it.

It’s big open country with coulees snaking down to The Missouri River with Wheat fields ontop which makes for a great combo of food and cover. We walk the edges and the tops of the Coulees getting points and relocates.Eventually Pheasants are flushed by either myself or Josie.

I keep thinking I need to get back to area and actually spend a few days hunting it,but I know I never probably will.It will always be one of our scheduled stops for training and perhaps its best left for that.
